Third project meeting in Ploiesti, Romania
20th of May to 25th of May 2013


            From May the 20th to May 25th 2013, 17 pupils and 18 teachers from partner countries took part in the 3rd meeting of the Comenius project “Strong Health, hAppy PEople – SHAPE”, held in Ploiesti, Romania.
            The aims of the second meeting were:
  1. Presentation of activities made by each school
  2. Evaluation of the partnership progress
  3. Discussion of possible problems
  4. Decisions of the format of the next assignments
  5. Planning the next activities 
  6. Reminding the period of future project meetings
  7. Comenius SHAPE products (website, mascot/logo, flag, song and dance, first questionnaires results, presentations, photos; CDs/DVDs)
  8. Familiarising our guests with certain aspects regarding the Romanian culture and civilization and the Romanian educational system;
  9. Motivating the participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle by engaging themselves in the suggested activities.
  10. The intermediate report
            The participants arrived on the 20th of May 2013.
            21st of May 2013 was the school activities’ day. On this occasion, the guests were introduced to our staff and pupils, as well as to our colleagues from schools in Prahova County and to representatives of the City Hall and of the Regional School Inspectorate. The guests visited the school and met the Romanian team members. They were also given a short description of the Romanian educational system and participated in 4 different workshops centered on the project’s theme:
-          “What makes us aware consumers?”, “Let’s go shopping!” - activities which were focussed on consumers education.
-          “NO health-risk behaviours!” – an activity designed to make people aware of the negative effects that unhealthy behaviours, such as: sedentary life, unhealthy diet, drugs, alcohol and tobacco use and abuse can have over our body.
-          Music workshop: learning a traditional Romanian folk dance and song, along with the partnership’s song – an activity designed to familiarise our foreign guests with aspects of the Romanian culture and traditions. 
-          Aerobics class (Zumba) – an activity designed to increase the participants’ motivation in adopting a healthy lifestyle which includes physical exercise.
      In the afternoon the local coordinators met in a working session to discuss about aspects regarding the partnership’s progress, the future activities, the responsibilities of each member of the multinational team, the final products and ways of making them, the deadlines for future activities and products.
      The 35 foreign pupils and teachers attended “Survival Romanian” – a linguistic activity aimed at familiarising them with basic Romanian words and expressions.
      Foreign pupils attended geography, mathematics and Romanian classes, together with their hosts, on which occasion they found out some information about the Romanian educational system and compared it to that in their country.
On the 22nd of May 2013, the day of outdoor activities, 35 foreign teachers and pupils, together with 33 Romanian teachers and pupils participated in different outdoor activities organised in the mountains with the support of “2Extreme” organisation. The participants divided in 6 multinational teams participated in a contest during which they had to cover a touristic route and complete all the proposed workshops: target shooting, archery, entertaining games, coming down on the zip line.
            All the trials targeted team working skills. The participants learned how to find the azimuth by using a compass, how to hit a target at shooting range and by using a bow and how to work together to achieve their team’s objectives.
            On the 23rd of May, 2013, 70 pupils and teachers from partner schools participated in a documentary visit at “Piatra Craiului National Park”. The guides gave us interesting information about the variety of the local fauna and flora and about the protected species. The participants walked approximately 6 km and spent some time in the nature.
            On the 24th of May, the guest and their hosts participated in a documentary visit at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest. After that they were invited to learn some basic rules of golf and to apply them at SELAS Golf and Polo Club. Both teachers and pupils had the opportunity to spend another day in the open air.

            The meeting’s programme was highly connected with our project’s theme – healthy lifestyle and gave the participants the opportunity of improving their knowledge on other educational systems and on other countries’ elements of culture and civilization.
